The Great Gatsby starts filming in Sydney with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire
Baz Luhrmann’s big-budget version of The Great Gatsby starts this week in Sydney with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. Filming will take place at Fox Studios Australia, with 17 weeks scheduled for shooting and then 30 weeks in post-production. The entire operation will be based in Sydney.
The opportunity to make the film in Australia with the Bazmark creative team is very important to us; the assistance from Screen Australia and the [New South Wales] Government has made that possible.

New South Wales is expected to make around AUD113 million from the production and it will provide jobs for 400 cast and crew. Fox Studios Australia has had other big news in the last few weeks with confirmation that it will host a big-budget, performance-capture production of Paradise Lost, with Alex Proyas set to direct a cast that includes Bradley Cooper.
