Spectrum Films partners with Box Films to open production base in Chile
Spectrum Films, based in Mexico City, has opened a new production base in Chile. The company has partnered with Box Films in Santiago and the base will be run by Daniel de la Vega of Sahara Films and Carolina Guarachi of Box Films, rather than moving staff from Mexico.
Conchita Taboada is with Spectrum Films in Mexico: “Chile offers beautiful locations, desert and snow environments, good beaches, good crews and a very European feel. There’s also the advantage of being in the southern hemisphere so productions coming from places like Europe and the US can find summer conditions during their winter months, and vice versa if they need it.

“Chile does not compete with Mexico as its locations are very different, so the locations of the two countries complement each other.”
The South American country has had a production resurgence in recent years, with Bond film Quantum of Solace being one of the big projects to have visited. It’s also popular in the international commercials industry, owing to its stable climate, good rates and its extensive and dramatic coastline.
