  Any advice on transit through Argentina would be gratefully received. Filming in Chile but entering Argentina by boat and then flying out. Not actually filming in Argentina. Does anyone know if there are likely to be problems with taking the equipment through customs?

  Yes- there will be problems. You will need a Carnet to accompany your equipment.

  We move a great deal of tv equipment around the world. An ATA Carnet would be needed for Chile. I have a network af agents in South America who could help you with the shipments and with Customs formalities. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this in more detail.

  Good morning Pamela, we have just finished working with the BBC on Two Rivers in Tunisia , so you can check out our credentials. We have excellent contacts in all of South America and in fact our partners were in the uk last week. South America can be problemtical if you do not have the right connections on the ground and after many years working in the region Dynamic has established an excellent network. We also have our own Carnet dept, so can assit with the Caranet for Chile, however Argentina and non memebers of the Carnet system so Temporary import would be applicable, again which we can organise for you.   HERE Bonifetto, YES you can enter equipment to both countries, Argentina : if the equipment are like a video camera is not necessary you will need a broker and a local Production company, we and others companies did it for special equipment like motion control or Panavision cameras that are not here . will be a pleasure to help you . ” Cinetauro service company “

  An ATA Carnet would be needed for Chile , to enter video/film equipment to Argentina you will be needing a broker ¿would you enter through Ushuaia or Buenos Aires?

  Moving equipment together with the crew as excess baggage will be another option… This will minimise waiting times (as you clear equipment via ATA carnet or duplicate list – as already advised) straightaway so you could save money on filming days and/or rental costs… Plus its hassle-free!

  You need to be careful which airlines to choose, as some still charge huge amount of money for excess baggage. S.America can be quite a grey area in terms of pricing, and you need airlines that charge per piece rather than per kg, which always works out much cheaper… Lufthansa and Swiss will get you to/from Chile/Argentina on one combined ticket and you can use Media Onboard service, which is reliable and cost-efficient way of getting eqpt there.
