    Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for countries that are easier to film in? I’ve looked into Brazil and there are a lot of high costs involved with hiring production service companies to facilitate visas/permits etc, and also customs brokers required for brining in equipment. Does anyone have any recommendations for countries that perhaps don’t require filming visas/permits/customs brokers, or are much lower cost?

    Many thanks.

    Marie

    Hello Marie

Peru offers good rates as well as interesting locations. Regarding visas, you can enter as a tourist and shoot here. Regarding equipment it depends on the size of the production, if you’re bringing equipment as excess baggage a simple journalist visa is sufficient and it has no cost. If you’re shipping cargo then as any other country in South America you will need a customs broker.

Let me know what kind of locations you’re looking for and I can send you some samples. You can also download our locations book:

There is also some information about climate and available equipment. Feel free to contact us with any question you may have.

    Hola Marie

    Dear Marie,
I know you asked for a South American country but if you’re still on the lookout, it doesn’t get any better than Mexico. Our country has been hosting international productions (small, big and huge) since the beginning of the film industry. We are home to one of the best crews in the world, people who have trained with the best filmmakers (Houston, Peckinpah, Cameron, Spielberg, Stone, etc); we are famous for our variety on locations (we are the 4th biodiversity in the world); we have film studios, independent sound stages, film labs, film stock and the latest in equipment. We are a one-stop shop. Plus, we offer fiscal and financial incentives that could give a production up to 17.5% in cash rebates.
I suggest you check our website for more information http://www.comefilm.gob.mx
We have a version in English and photo albums of locations in Flickr, as well as presence in Facebook and Twitter.
For further details, do no hesitate to contact us at locations.mexico@imcine.gob.mx

    Sincerely,

    Carla Raygoza
