Hi Ted,
June will be still quite early in the season so they are probably wanting to go high, either at Mt Cook or in Westland National Park. Both have had early season snowfalls on permanent cover but it all depends on what you are wanting to do.
You’ve left yourself not much time to get the right commercial concessions organised (Crown/govt permits priocessed through the Department of Conservation for operating on public land….there are no private mountains with snow on them right now), but just possible if you make some decisions quick, although it all depends on the scale. I have plenty of experience helping clients get the appropriate concessions filled out and processed.
As far as concessions though these can be problematic depending of the type of commercial. A commercial for toilet paper for example would probably get declined, advertising pure water or skis….no problem. It all depends.
Both would need helicopter access.
I know of some good locations at the head of the Rakaia too as well as a good base to work from with helo access, but may be a little too early in the season.
June is pretty quite for me (have just come off a big summer of doing the second series of the TV series First Crossings), so happy to quote for location scouting of this job, but would need some more details as to exactly the type of commercial and what they are looking for.
You can email me more details at: robbrownnz@yahoo.com
and I’m happy to provide more detailed answers as to whether it is achievable in New Zealand and whether the concessions can be processed in time.
Kind Regards
Rob
