  • Hello, fellow producers,

    Dear Sir/Madam,

We are a Brazilian producing company currently working on a documentary that will address the environmental and cultural similarities between Africa and Brazil. The filming will take place in the months of July and August in six African Countries this year, and will promote the integration and natural beauties of all countries involved.

One of the countries included in the documentary is Madagascar. Taking into account that there’s no Malagasy Embassy in Brazil, nor any Brazilian embassy in Madagascar, it’s been kind of a challenge to find and confirm requirements for shooting in the country.

Has anyone already shot there? What are the permits required, and how to get them? Visa-wise, how can I apply for one, since my country has no Malagasy Embassy or Consulate? How does it work to get permission from customs to get equipment in and out of the country? How do National Parks there work in relation to granting shooting permission in their premises?

All suggestions and tips are welcome. Thank you very much! All the best!

    Hi Thiago,

We’re a film production services, based in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The Government Film Permit is at USD 2,000.00, including the visas for your crew & if needed, the authorization for the equipment’s temporary importation.
For countries like yours (& ours), which don’t have diplomatic representations around the world, we’re used to manage all those things between our local several ministerial offices. So don’t worry about that…

About the National Parks, this is a separate fee (valid for 15 days) based on the number of the crew who enters the park & the format of film you want to shoot (features films, documentary, commercials, etc…).

If you want more details & tell us more about your project, feel free to write us at
    contact.zfw(at)gmail(dot)com
