Cape Film Commission’s Denis Lillie to address filming location concerns
The Cape Film Commission (CFC) in South Africa will be holding a meeting next week to discuss concerns about filming locations and permitting raised by South Africa’s Commercial Producers Association (CPA) and the South African Association of Stills Producers (SAASP).
It is unfortunate that as some involved in these industries have not interacted with the CFC directly in the past few months, they may be unaware of the work the CFC is doing to try and unlock new locations and streamline the overall permit process.

The organisations are concerned about bureaucracy and the need for more filming locations. Denis Lillie is Film Commissioner at the Cape Film Commission: “It is unfortunate that as some involved in these industries have not interacted with the CFC directly in the past few months, they may be unaware of the work the CFC is doing to try and unlock new locations and streamline the overall permit process.”
More than a thousand industry professionals in South Africa have signed a petition circulated by the CPA and the SAASP, expressing their concerns about what’s being labelled a ‘locations crisis’. Part of the intention of the meeting is to put a stop to regional and national grievances being discussed so much in public view.
