UK Film Minister Ed Vaizey visits LA studios to encourage location filming in Britain

Ed Vaizey, the UK’s Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, is in Los Angeles to strengthen ties between the UK and US filming industries. Vaizey is travelling with Adrian Wootton, head of the British Film Commission, and will meet with industry figures in LA.

Vaizey commented: “Industry leaders here are in no doubt about the quality of British films – last year The King’s Speech dominated the awards season and there’s huge anticipation on both sides of the Atlantic ahead of the opening of The Iron Lady. So I look forward to productive discussions about how we can continue to forge closer relationships that will lead to more investment in the UK.”

Wootton stated: “In producing big-budget features in the UK, these productions benefit from our excellent facilities, the unrivalled experience of our crew and of course the tax relief which helps make the UK a cost-effective option.”

The UK’s tax relief filming incentive was recently renewed until the end of 2015, while Film London has announced it’s working on a new dedicated online Portal to help boost location filming in the capital.
