Bollywood glamour comes to Sweden for location filming
Bollywood has turned to Sweden in a bid to give its audiences something new. Romantic horror sequel 1920: Evil Returns filmed partly in Skåne in the south of the country for two weeks in November. It marks a change from the first film, 1920, which filmed extensively in north Yorkshire in the UK.
We wanted to explore locations that were not shown to Indian audiences before; hence Sweden.
Bhushan Patel, Director
Bhushan Patel directed the film: “I needed palaces, countryside and autumn. I needed dry leaves. We wanted to explore locations that were not shown to Indian audiences before; hence Sweden.”
The Oresund Film Commission played a significant role in attracting Mumbai-based company ASA Production and Enterprises, alongside Connecting Bollywood and Solid Entertainment, both based in the Swedish city of Malmo.
