Creative England unveils new Location and Production Services team

Creative England has unveiled its new Location and Production Services (LPS) team. The team has seven members with two more to be recruited in the coming months and has several offices across England. They offer a full filming liaison service as part of Creative England.

The launch of LPS marks the debut of a joined-up servicing resource for productions filming around England. Staff will be based in regional offices in cities including Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol.

We’ll be working hard moving into 2012, alongside the British Film Commission, Film London and other partners, to make it as simple as possible for production companies to get the service they need.

Kaye Elliott is Head of Locations and Production Services: “We’ll be working hard moving into 2012, alongside the British Film Commission, Film London and other partners, to make it as simple as possible for production companies to get the service they need, as well as encouraging more productions to consider the wealth of options on offer outside London when deciding where to shoot.”

Specific details about England’s filming support structure are still being ironed out. The British Film Commission is the newest addition to England’s London-based resources. One of its main tasks will be the promotion of the UK’s industry overseas.

Since the closure of the UK Film Council, the British Film Commission sits within Film London, as a division of the agency. However the commission has its own national brand and identity, as well as its own Advisory Board.

Colette Geraghty is Press & Communications Manager at Film London and explains in more detail: "Since the closure of the UK Film Council, the British Film Commission sits within Film London, as a division of the agency. However the commission has its own national brand and identity, as well as its own Advisory Board. Although the London-based commission team is now physically closer, the commission continues to work with Film London’s production liaison team in the same way it did before and will work with Creative England similarly to how it previously worked with the other regional screen agencies."

Creative England will focus on providing film resources across England but outside London. The organisation will work with pre-existing film offices in specific cities to offer specialist local knowledge to visiting productions.
