Irish-funded feature Love Eternal films on location in County Cork

The seaport town of Cobh in County Cork, Ireland, has provided filming locations for new Irish feature Love Eternal. Funded by the Irish Film Board, the project chose Cobh as it’s both easily accessible and offers un-used parts of the country to showcase new landscapes for the audience.

“Because other films have shot in Cork recently there’s a crew based system, which eases the filmmaking process. It also means that service providers are up to speed on everything film crews need, from stellar accommodation to professional crew.”

Robert Fitzpatrick is General Manager of Cobh’s Commodore Hotel: “The period immediately after the summer is often a quieter time for us so [the shoot] was a very welcome boost to business. The crew were fantastic and we'd love to see more film work in the area. It's a huge boost to the local economy, with both direct and indirect benefits.”

The production was in the area for six weeks altogether, including the 16-day shoot, and around EUR250,000 was fed into the local economy for accommodation and various services.
