Rio Film Commission launches grant programme for location filming
The Rio Film Commission has launched a new grant programme to boost location filming in the Brazilian city. A fund of about USD580,000 is available for 2012 and up to four features or TV projects will benefit.
Steve Solot is President of Rio Filme - Rio Film Commission: “One of the unique features of the grant is that it benefits both local industry and international projects. Any project may be submitted for consideration, as long as it originates from another Brazilian state outside Rio, or from another country. The Rio Film Commission is the only film commission in Brazil which offers its own incentive.

“The Rio Film Commission Grant Programme is an integral part of the Rio Audiovisual programme, which is geared towards developing audiovisual activity in the City and the State of Rio de Janeiro, and to promote the economic growth of the audiovisual sector and the entire creative industry of the Rio in the 21st Century.”
Rio de Janeiro is preparing for considerable international focus coming its way. This year the UN Conference on Sustainable Development comes to the city and over the next four years it will host both the Olympics and football’s World Cup competition.
