UK Government announces funding boost for overseas investment

A GBP400,000 funding boost for attracting overseas investment is one way the UK Government plans to support its national filming industry. It’s one part of the response to a recent review of the state of British film.

Ed Vaizey is the UK’s Culture Minister: “The UK film industry is a real success story and I want it to thrive and grow. Economically and culturally British film makes a great contribution and it’s vital that we make the most of the very real opportunity for economic growth it offers.”

The Government recently announced plans to launch TV location filming incentives alongside its existing film tax credit scheme, in a bid to convince more high-end TV productions to film in the UK. Pinewood and Shepperton Studios are hugely popular for big-budget Hollywood productions and Pinewood recently opened its new Richard Attenborough stage.
