Ohio increases film fund for location filming incentive in wake of Marvel's Avengers

Ohio’s location filming incentive now has a richer film fund, boosting its Hollywood appeal. The state now has USD40 million through the 2013 fiscal year to help attract more shoots like Marvel's Avengers, although spending is limited to USD20 million each year.

Ivan Schwarz is Executive Director of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission: “Expanding the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Incentive is essential for the growth of Ohio's emerging film industry and now Ohio can continue to attract film projects, create more jobs and make positive contributions to our economy.”

Much of Marvel’s Avengers movie was filmed in Ohio, with Cleveland doubling for the streets of New York City. The expanded incentive will allow the state to build on this exposure. A recent study from Cleveland State University found that Ohio makes USD1.20 in direct production spending from each dollar invested through the filming incentive.
