Cannes Soirée Partner: Finland Film Commission
One of The Location Guide's partners for our Soirée at the Cannes Lions Festival will be the Finland Film Commission. The commission facilitates projects filming in Finland by acting as a co-operational body between the country’s various regional film commissions.
Päivi Söderström is with Finland Film Commission: “Having just had an excellent response with our pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival, we want to increase the awareness of Finland as a shooting location amongst international commercial producers too.”
Finland offers a snow guarantee during the wintertime, with ice thick enough to drive on in frozen lake locations. Its northerly location leads to long summer days and 24-hour sunlight throughout July. Production companies can find outstanding filming infrastructure throughout the country and Rovaniemi is one of the world’s only cities to straddle the Arctic Circle.
Finland Film Commission’s website offers extensive information about filming in the country, including a location gallery and details of recent productions that have visited.
