Oscar winners Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman are filming The Railway Man on location in Queensland. The project travels to Australia having already spent several weeks filming in Edinburgh and North Berwick in Scotland.

From its base at the Village Roadshow Studios near Brisbane, The Railway Man will film around the Gold Coast (pictured above), including the North Ipswich Railyards.

“Productions such as The Railway Man filming on location in Queensland have multiple additional benefits, including boosting tourism and employment.”

Queensland recently hosted the lavish but short-lived Steven Spielberg-produced TV series Terra Nova. Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby has been filmed in Sydney and the city is also scheduled to host Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine film at Fox Studios in Sydney from August this year.
