Colombia approves new 40% cash rebate to boost location filming
Colombia has approved a generous new cash rebate to boost location filming in the region. Under the new programme eligible projects will get a 40% return on costs incurred in the country. They’ll also be able to claim a 20% rebate on transport costs when Colombian companies are hired.
Lina María Sánchez is with the Colombian Film Commission: “The project that has recently been approved by the Congress of Colombia and will be signed by the President next week establishes the creation of a fund with public resources.
With this fund a production incentive will be given to all movies or TV movies filmed in Colombia.

Colombia’s filmmaking profile is likely to grow in the international arena and the film fund itself is reportedly worth USD14 million. The rebates come less than a year after calls for an incentive programme from Scott Steindorff, Producer of both Lincoln Lawyer and new feature Pablo Escobar that focuses on the notorious Colombian drug lord.
