Two new Bollywood movies to film on location in London in 2013
Two new Bollywood movies will film on location in London in 2013. Housefull 3, starring Akshay Kumar, and Kick, starring Salman Khan, have a combined budget of GBP35 million and will stay in the capital for post-production.
The announcement came as London Mayor Boris Johnson had a summit with filmmakers and producers while on an official trip in India.
“2012 has been another bumper year for moviemaking in London,” the Mayor said, “and I want to make it as easy as possible to film in the city, whether you want to feature an iconic landmark as a backdrop, take advantage of our second-to-none post-production facilities, or be amongst the first to use our incredible Olympic Park as a location.”
Bollywood has been taking an increased interest in filming in the UK and Ireland. Virgin Atlantic recently launched a new route between London and Mumbai to cater for the rise in Bollywood film tourism.
