BBC TV series films on location near Queenstown in New Zealand
A new BBC TV drama scheduled to screen at Sundance in January 2013 and then in the UK in March, was filmed on location near Queenstown in New Zealand. Top of the Lake is a seven-part series that follows a detective investigating the disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant girl.
Kevin Jennings is with Film Otago Southland and spoke to Otago Daily Times: “It’s great to have a product shot here be presented at such a prestigious event. I hope it encourages more international filmmakers to consider the Southern Lakes for their location filming.”
New Zealand is once again in the global spotlight with the release of the first in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy. The New Zealand Government has indicated it has plans to make its TV filming incentive more accessible by lowering the minimum spend requirements from the current NZD15 million.
