Stephen Poliakoff drama Dancing on the Edge films on location at Ragley Hall in England
Stephen Poliakoff’s new drama miniseries Dancing on the Edge has filmed partly on location at Ragley Hall in central England. Screening on BBC2 in the UK, the series follows a young journalist who promotes a black jazz band in early 1930s London.
In line with Poliakoff’s preferences, filming took place entirely on location in London and the West Midlands. The production spent five days shooting at Ragley Hall near Alcester, which is the home of the 9th Marquess and Marchioness of Hertford.
“Steven prefers to steer away from locations that have been seen a lot on-screen," comments Location Manager Harriet Lawrence, "and that’s one of the reasons we ventured further away from London.
“He’s drawn to places that are unusual and architecturally interesting, and Ragley Hall is certainly very different. From the outside it’s immediately striking with its enormous windows.”
