Marvel’s Captain America sequel starts filming on location in California and Ohio
Marvel’s superhero sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier has started filming on location in Los Angeles, with shooting also planned for Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC. Avengers Assemble filmed action sequences on location in Cleveland in 2011, doubling the city for New York.
“Marvel is pleased to return to Ohio, this time with our Captain America: The Winter Soldier production,” said Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D’Esposito when the location was first announced: “The location, talent and people of Ohio are sure to benefit our film, and we look forward to beginning production.”
The Los Angeles leg of the Captain America shoot will be a welcome boost to California’s feature production industry, which is struggling to compete with competitive filming incentives further east. Rival superhero feature The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has become the biggest film to shoot entirely on location in New York.
