Film-friendly hotels of the world: Exploring New Delhi’s Metropolitan
When working long hours on location in a big, hot and busy city anywhere in the world, there is nothing quite like the sanctuary of a clean, comfortable and quiet hotel room.
The Metropolitan Hotel in New Delhi offers just that - a peaceful escape from the noisy, nonstop hussle and bussle of a capital city expanding in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. For this reason we are very happy to include the Metropolitan Hotel - known locally as ‘The Met’ in our ever-growing list of ‘film crew and cast-friendly hotels of the world’.
Located in the Connaught Place district just a few kilometres from India Gate, ‘The Met’ is a favourite destination for visiting production professionals as well as the local filmmaking community.
The Met is also the proud owner of two of Delhi’s best restaurants - the Chutney has an interesting Indian regional fusion menu and the Sakora has an excellent Japanese restaurant on the First Floor. Staff are numerous, helpful and exceptionally friendly.
Tony Cordeaux of Goa Film Services comments: "You couldn't swing a mongoose in many of the bedrooms in five-star hotels in central Delhi but The Met has good-sized rooms, a swimming pool, two of the best restaurants in town, great service and it’s been recently refurbished.
“It is central to locations in New Delhi and Old Delhi and has ample space outside to make entry and exit for large groups easy. It’s also budget-friendly. Deals are often the same as three-star hotels nearby and pretty much always less than other not-so-good hotels in the same area and class."
