Royal party inaugurates Warner Brothers Studios Leavesden for filming

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have officially inaugurated the revamped Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesden outside London. Warner Brothers bought the studio in 2010 and it opened for business last year after extensive refurbishments.

“It remains for me to make one last thank you – to Warner Brothers for making this investment at Leavesden,” the Duke said in a speech: “You were right to do so and all three of us hope you have a long and prosperous stay here. And please make another of the Dark Knight series, and another... and another!”

Leavesden offers nine separate sound stages ranging from 10,000 to 36,000 square feet, which includes a large heated underwater filming tank. All the Harry Potter films were shot at the site and its main public attraction is now a permanent walking tour of a selection of the franchise’s sets.
