Oregon may double location filming fund
Oregon in the north-west US is considering doubling the size of its annual location filming fund. The Governor’s proposal would increase the fund to USD12 million and could help bring more productions to the state.
“One of the first questions that the studio, the network, the financiers of a production company ask [concerns filming incentives] because they are being courted by almost every other state,” said David Cress, Producer of Oregon-filmed comedy show Portlandia, in comments to the Portland Business Journal.
The state made more than USD130 million from location filming in 2011/12, according to the Governor’s Office of Film and Television, but feels it can make a lot more with a bigger film fund.
