Saturday Night Live veteran films New Jersey-set story in New York
Actress Kristen Wiig, a veteran of comedy show Saturday Night Live, has filmed her new feature largely on location in New York, doubling for New Jersey. New Jersey lacks funds for its filming incentive and local authorities know this is losing them business.
The feature, Girl Most Likely, filmed B-roll footage on location in New Jersey’s iconic Atlantic City, but the main cast weren’t involved.
"It's too expensive for them to shoot here. Why should they?" Heather Colache, Director of Tourism for the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors’ Authority, told local outlet NBC40: "We do motion pictures but they're not like the big-budget pictures."
New Jersey has no money left in its filming incentive fund until 2015, the outlet reports. Even then, productions have to spend 70% of their budget in-state to qualify for the support.
