Ridley Scott production Child 44 gets location filming incentive in Prague
New Stalin-era spy thriller Child 44, produced by Ridley Scott, has secured a location filming incentive payment to shoot in Prague in Czech Republic. The city is likely doubling for the Soviet Union and the production will get an incentive payment of about USD2.3 million.
“This year was very good [for Czech Republic’s production industry],” the Czech Cinematography Fund’s Helena Bezděk Fraňkova told Radio Prague, “because we received CZK500 million (USD25 million) for the cash-back plan instead of CZK300 million (USD15 million), which was the case in the past.”
Fraňkova added that the Child 44 production team, headed by director Daniel Espinosa, found all its filming locations in and around Prague, despite initially scouting throughout the country.
