Sleepy Hollow TV series to film supernatural mystery on location in North Carolina

A new TV adaptation of Sleepy Hollow, inspired by the classic Washington Irving short story, will film a full series on location in North Carolina. Tim Burton adapted the story as a 1999 feature starring Johnny Depp, with Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman.

The TV drama – which filmed its pilot earlier this year – will see 18th Century Revolutionary War hero Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman transported to modern-day Sleepy Hollow, where Crane helps a police officer tackle a series of supernatural mysteries. Filming will be based at EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington from July to December 2013.

“We are certainly excited that once again Wilmington has been chosen as the home for another TV series,” says Wilmington Regional Film Commission Director Johnny Griffin: “This series will continue Wilmington’s long-running success with television production.”

North Carolina is already home to terrorism drama Homeland and hosted dystopian series Revolution for its first season. The state doubled for Maine for the television miniseries Under the Dome. Television shows shooting in North Carolina can qualify for a 25% refundable filming tax credit.
