Connecticut filming incentive removes feature support to focus on TV

Connecticut in the north-east US has removed its filming incentive support for feature productions for the next two years. The state will instead focus its limited resources on television, which it considers more central to its production industry.

“I don't think film production will go away in its entirety, [but] TV specifically is our bread and butter,” George Norfleet, head of Connecticut’s Office of Film, Television & Digital Media, told the Wall Street Journal.

Connecticut has been moving for the past year towards prioritising television, having allocated only about USD22 million of a USD96 million annual fund to feature support in 2012, the outlet reports.
