Our Robot Overlords films on location at Carrickfergus Castle in Northern Ireland
New sci-fi feature Our Robot Overlords is finishing a week of location filming at the 12th Century Carrickfergus Castle in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The USD21 million movie follows British teenagers living under the rule of an army of conquering alien robots.
“The fact that this production company has chosen Carrickfergus Castle as a venue for their filming is an excellent example of how our Built Heritage can be used to encourage interest and investment in Northern Ireland,” said Northern Ireland’s Environment Minister Alex Attwood: “One of our most impressive Built Heritage assets will now be showcased to both a local and global market.”
Universal recently confirmed it will be filming a new adaptation of Dracula in Northern Ireland from August this year, with support from Northern Ireland Screen. Hit fantasy series Game of Thrones returns to Belfast in the next few weeks for the show’s fourth season.
