Godzilla wraps location filming in Hawaii

Gareth Edwards’ new big-budget Godzilla feature has wrapped location filming in Hawaii. The production spent several weeks shooting in the US state in the Pacific Ocean and finished after a night filming in state capital Honolulu on the island of Oahu.

“Everybody's been great,” Location Manager Mike Fantasia told Hawaii News Now: “Again, a couple of hiccups along the way, but between our state film commissioner and our film commissioners here on Oahu, we've managed to work through all of our problems. It's been a great experience."

“There's probably not a sector of the economy that is not impacted by film production,” Hawaii film commissioner Donne Dawson added to the outlet: “We're talking hotels. We're talking talent, we're talking building supplies; we're talking food and restaurants."

The filming incentive available on Oahu has recently been increased to 20% and the state hopes that the delayed Jurassic Park 4 will shoot locally in the near future. A successful reboot of classic TV crime series Hawaii Five-O is among the highest-profile productions currently filming in the state.
