Jane Austen pastiche Death Comes to Pemberley films on location in York

Jane Austen television pastiche Death Comes to Pemberley has filmed on location around York in northern England. The story is set six years after the events of Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice, and follows Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy in a murder mystery.

Filming locations in York have included the medieval architecture of St Williams College around York Minster, as well as local landmark the Eye of York.

“We found quite a lot in the local area so we have been at Chatsworth House and Harewood House recently, and we’re currently filming at York Minster,” a BBC spokeswoman told the York Press: “We’re in York for just over a week and everyone from the Minster has been fantastic and very welcoming and accommodating, as we’ve been working closely with them.”

Additional filming locations for Death Comes to Pemberley include Castle Howard in North Yorkshire, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire and Harewood House near Harrogate.
