BBC films new drama The Thirteenth Tale in east Yorkshire stately home

Filming for the BBC’s upcoming drama The Thirteenth Tale has filmed partly on location at the 17th Century Burton Agnes Hall in Yorkshire, northern England. The 90-minute film is a psychological mystery that includes flashbacks to the 1940s.

“It was quite a strange experience while they were here filming,” Burton Agnes Hall owner and resident Simon Cunliffe-Lister told the Hull Daily Mail: “They brought in a whole lot of furniture and it felt as though someone else had moved in."

“We had to close off a good part of the house, even though they were using the Red Drawing Room, because of the sounds that might interfere with the filming,” he added.

The BBC has a base near Manchester and has been very active with Yorkshire location filming. Recent period productions have included World War I-era drama Peaky Blinders, historic feature drama The Great Train Robbery and Jane Austen pastiche Death Comes to Pemberley.

The Thirteenth Tale stars Olivia Colman and Vanessa Redgrave and will be screened in the UK on BBC Two in late 2013.
