Vinnie Jones films Russian sci-fi thriller Calculator on location in Iceland
Russian production company Unified Media Group has filmed sci-fi thriller Calculator partly on location in Iceland with footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones. The Icelandic leg of the shoot lasted around three weeks, with the country standing in for an alien planet.
“We faced difficult situations in many places and the locations that were chosen were sometimes hard to reach by car,” commented Árni Björn Helgason, Executive Producer with servicing company Sagafilm: “The locations were quite rocky and dangerous, especially Reynisfjara which is known to be the most dangerous shore in Iceland.”
Iceland remains a hugely popular international filming location for productions of all budgets. The country got a profile boost earlier this year with Tom Cruise’s Oblivion and will feature again soon in Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic Noah.
