Rosemary’s Baby TV miniseries to film on location in Paris
A new miniseries based on the 1967 Ira Levin novel Rosemary’s Baby will be filmed on location in Paris. The novel follows a woman who falls pregnant with the Antichrist when she becomes victimised by a satanic coven, and was famously made into a film by Roman Polanski in 1968.
Network NBC has switched the story’s setting from New York to Paris and the four-hour production will start filming on location in January 2014.
“As we move into the event movie and miniseries space, Rosemary’s Baby represents the kind of attention-getting, surprising project that will make noise for us,” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke: “The story has been updated and moved to Paris, but it’s faithful to the spirit of Ira Levin’s classic novel. This is a compelling tale wonderfully told.”
“Ira Levin’s mesmerising book was a groundbreaking reflection on how effective and influential a psychological thriller could be,” added Quinn Taylor, executive vice-president of movies, miniseries and international co-productions at NBC.
France offers a national filming incentive known as the TRIP (Tax Rebate for International Production). The programme is worth 20% of qualifying local expenditure with a per-production cap of EUR10 million.

Filming in Paris is supported by the Ile de France Film Commission and most recently the city has hosted shooting for international TV shows including Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and light-hearted crime drama Castle.
French filmmaker Luc Besson opened a new EUR170 million studio, the Cité du Cinéma, just outside Paris in late-2012. The facility offers nine separate sound stages and five water tanks.
