Fantasy drama Da Vinci’s Demons to film third season on location in Wales
Fantasy TV drama Da Vinci’s Demons is set to film a third series on location in south Wales. The show has doubled the Swansea region for Renaissance-era Florence for the past two years, with a base at Bay Studios, a former factory in Neath Port Talbot.
“The international success of Da Vinci's Demons is due in no small part to the supremely talented production talent based in Wales helping us make a world-class drama series for the international audience,” said Jane Tranter, head of Adjacent Productions.
“The support given to Da Vinci’s Demons by the Welsh Government and local businesses has played a vital role in the show's continued success and I am thrilled that we are returning for a third series. Proof indeed that investment in talent is investment in the future.”
Added Welsh Government Economy Minister Edwina Hart: “It is great news that a third series of Da Vinci’s Demons will be filmed in Wales. Production will begin on 23 June and this will lead to further investment and opportunities for our creative industries sector. The benefits to local business, people and the wider Welsh economy so far have been considerable.”

Around three dozen different sets have been built at Bay Studios since production began on Da Vinci’s Demons, recreating a series of iconic locations from 15th Century Florence. Over the course of two seasons of shooting, key filming locations have also included Castell Coch and the expansive grounds of Margam Castle.
Earlier this year the Welsh government made a deal with Pinewood Studios to launch a new GBP30 million Media Investment Budget, which this week confirmed the thriller Take Down as its first investment. Pinewood will also be opening a small studio facility in Cardiff.
