Young Director Award announces 2014 winners at Cannes screening event

The CFP-E (Commercial Film Producers of Europe)/Shots Young Director’s Award (YDA) held its 16th annual screening in Cannes last week. More than a thousand producers, directors and fans attended the event that recognises talented new directors from around the world.

“The level of work in terms of craft as well as fresh ideas gets higher and higher and it’s wonderful to see that the awards have become the leading international showcase for new directing talent,” said YDA President François Chilot.

“The winners are not only natural born storytellers with fresh original visual voices but so many are also experts doing their own editing, special effects and post. This genre is the future of filmmaking.”
