AFCI announces board of directors for 2015

The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) has announced its board of directors for 2015. The organisation is a non-profit educational association that represents over 300 film commissioners on six different continents.

Serving two-year terms as new board members from 2015 will be George David of the Royal Film Commission Jordan, Sigmund Elias Holm of the Western Norway Film Commission, Nick Miniatis of the New Mexico Film Office, Silvia Echeverri of the Colombian Film Commission, Pamela Haynes of the West Virginia Film Office, Deny Staggs of the Montana Film Office and Marijana Stoisits of the Vienna Film Commission.

Continuing their terms in 2015 will be Walea Constantinau of the Honolulu Film Office, Ana Ilic of the Serbia Film Commission, Kevin Jennings of Film Otago Southland and Ingrid Rudefors of the Stockholm Malardalen Film Commission.

"The success of the AFCI thrives on hands-on involvement of members to set the direction of our organization, provide superior leadership, and exemplify the excellence in service that the AFCI brand signifies,” said board President George David: “We are proud of the diversity of our Board – with representatives from eight countries on five continents.”

The AFCI is a non-profit educational association that represents over 300 film commissioners on six different continents.

The AFCI holds an annual Locations Show in Los Angeles and last week held its yearly Cineposium in New York. Topics for discussion included film tourism, filming incentives, the logistics of international co-productions and the use of unmanned drones for aerial filming.

Drones are a particularly pertinent subject at the moment, as six US production companies were recently given permission to use the unmanned devices for commercial purposes in American airspace for the first time.
