Second annual LMGA Awards honour Wild and The Grand Budapest Hotel
Reese Witherspoon’s Wild and Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel were the movie winners over the weekend at the Location Managers Guild of America (LMGA) Awards in Beverly Hills. Five hundred industry professionals and press attended the ceremony.
Nancy Haecker won the award for Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film for Wild, based on the true story of Cheryl Strayed who hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in the western US in 2005.
Klaus Darrelmann won the award for Outstanding Locations in a Period Film for his work on The Grand Budapest Hotel, which filmed largely in the German/Polish border town of Görlitz.
Acclaimed crime dramas True Detective and Boardwalk Empire secured the evening’s top television awards.
Producer Caroline Baron received the LMGA’s Humanitarian Award for her educational films made through FilmAid that provides voices for marginalised communities. The LMGA’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to Kokayi Ampah, whose extensive career has involved six Clint Eastwood movies and two with Steven Spielberg. Location Scout Marino Pascal won the Trailblazer Award.
