Kenya Film Commission to launch new film festival and market

The Kenya Film Commission is partnering with the French embassy in Kenya to launch the Kalasha International Film & TV Festival & Market in October. Taking place in Nairobi, the festival will focus on films and TV shows that showcase East African stories.

“The event’s primary objective is to showcase Kenya as a major regional hub for film and TV production, and distribution across all platforms and genres while reinforcing the uniqueness of Kenya as a shooting location,” said Lizzie Chongoti, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Film Commission.

“It is evident that a vibrant film and TV industry will contribute to shape Kenya’s image at the international level, foster the quality and quantity of local content produced, sharpen the requisite skills and enhance tourism, thus creating wealth and employment for the country.”

The festival will bring together the Kalasha Eastern Africa Film & TV Trade Show, the Kalasha International Film Festival and the Kalasha Film & TV Awards.
