Period TV movie Harry Price: Ghost Hunter to film in London

New 1920s-set TV movie Harry Price: Ghost Hunter will film on location in London. Based on a novel by Neil Spring and inspired by a true story, the ITV film will follow the adventures of a ‘psychic researcher’ investigating an apparent haunting.

“Harry Price is an intriguing character at the very heart of the drama,” said Steve November, Director of Drama at ITV.

“Jack Lothian’s wonderful script is a skilful blend of fact and fiction as Harry’s past, his fascination with the paranormal and his faith in science is all real yet set against a fictional backdrop of political conspiracy and scandal.

"We’re delighted to commission this film from Bentley Productions in the hope the audience will be captivated by Harry.”

Added executive producer Jo Wright: “It’s a great thrill to be making Harry Price: Ghost Hunter for ITV. Bentley Productions is developing a raft of new and exciting projects and this is one of my favourites. To be able to combine the book by Neil Spring with a script by Jack Lothian has been a delight, and we look forward to making this for our ITV audience.”

Harry Price: Ghost Hunter is just the latest period drama to be commissioned by ITV. In the last few weeks the broadcaster has announced the similarly 1920s-set drama Tutankhamun that will tell the story of Howard Carter’s discovery of the famous tomb. The production is set to use South Africa as a stand-in for Egypt.

Also being lined up by ITV is detective drama Houdini & Doyle, set at the turn of the 20th century and filming in Manchester and Toronto. The true-life serial killer story Dark Angel is set in Victorian England and will film in North Yorkshire.

High-end TV production has become more prolific in the UK since the launch of a dedicated television tax credit in 2013.
