Mimi Gjorgoska-Ilievska appointed as new Director of the Macedonian Film Agency
The Macedonian Film Agency has appointed Mimi Gjorgoska-Ilievska to be its new Director after a decision was issued by the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. Mrs. Gjorgoska-Ilievska has an established reputation within the film industry, having accumulated a total of twenty years experience.
Mimi plans to continue with the future development of the Macedonian film industry and in accordance with the Film Industry Law to proceed in providing comprehensive funding for the film production
Before joining the Macedonian Film Agency, Mrs. Gjorgoska-Ilievska worked as the Director of the Cinematheque of Macedonia, the country’s national cinema institute. One of her main tasks in this position was to develop a digitisation programme that would allow for sufficient archiving of classic Macedonian films.
Mrs. Gjorgoska-Ilievska’s credentials also extend to her work as an author and editor in the field of film history and theory, alongside being an active member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Film Archives and the Association of European Film Archives, and being a national representative at Eurimages.
Daniela Stankovska Plackovska, Head of Film Production and International Cooperation Department at the Macedonian Film Agency explains: “Mimi plans to continue with the future development of the Macedonian film industry and in accordance with the Film Industry Law to proceed in providing comprehensive funding for the film production (national, majority and minority films), film festivals, distribution and cinema network as well as to promote Macedonia as a filming destination with its Production incentives scheme of 20% cash rebate of eligible expenditure for film and TV production.”
Macedonia has offered this 20% cash rebate for productions with an eligible spend since 2014, which has led to a thriving film industry within the country.
