Horror sequel The Conjuring 2 wraps filming in Enfield
The Conjuring 2, the sequel to 2013s hugely successful horror film The Conjuring has finished filming in the London borough of Enfield. Unlike its predecessor, The Conjuring 2 was filmed in both Los Angeles and Enfield while the first film was shot entirely on location in North Carolina.
This project was a fantastic example of New Line, Warner Bros., Enfield Council, residents and a wide range of organisations working together constructively to minimise disruptions and make this project work.
Fully titled The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, the film will follow the same protagonists, Ed and Lorraine Warren as they travel to the UK in search of paranormal activity.
Enfield Council Leader Counsellor Doug Taylor explained: “it was incredibly exciting to have a major Hollywood film shooting in the borough and we are very much looking forward to seeing the finished product next year... this project was a fantastic example of New Line, Warner Bros., Enfield Council, residents and a wide range of organisations working together constructively to minimise disruptions and make this project work, and I hope this will be the first of many such collaborations.”
While very few feature films have been shot at Enfield, the borough has recently garnered attention as a filming location after short film The Phone Call which was partially filmed there, won an Academy Award.
Films shot in Enfield can apply for the UK Film Tax Relief, which offers a cash rebate of up to 25% for productions with an eligible expenditure. Productions must spend at least 10% of their budget on qualifying expenditures to be considered for the rebate.
In similar news the Indiegogo funded horror film, The Wasting filmed on location last month at Waterside House, The Old Hall, and Malt House in Upton-upon-Severn.
