Valley of the Gods to film in Poland, Italy and the US state of Utah

The upcoming fantasy film by Polish Director Lech Majewski, Valley of the Gods will be shot on location in Poland, Italy and Utah. Principal photography will begin mid-May 2016 and will travel to multiple locations within the Polish region of Silesia, including the city of Katowice, the Dietel Palace in Sosnowiec and Czocha Castle to name a few.

The film’s main cast will include Charlotte Rampling (45 Years), Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful) and John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings), with additional cast members soon to be announced. Valley of the Gods will delve into Navajo lore as John Ecas (Hartnett) becomes endowed with the Godlike ability to change reality itself.

Royal Road Entertainment is onboard to produce in conjunction with the Safran Company and Angelus Silesius. The film has qualified for funding at the national level by the Polish Film Institute, but will also receive investments from the Silesian and Lower Silesian Film Funds which have covered two of Majewski’s previous projects.

The Polish Film Institute offers a negotiable amount of funding to regional productions, taken from a sum of EUR32 million that is set aside annually for investments in the film industry. International projects can only access this funding by entering into a coproduction with a Polish company.

The two separate Silesian funds were both established in 2008 and have allowed the region to become a sought after location in Poland’s film industry, servicing a multitude of films including You Are God and The Mole.

Valley of the Gods is expected to be released in late 2016.
