Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to Los Angeles for season nine shoot

The return of HBO’s iconic comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm is now underway with scenes being shot in Hollywood Boulevard. The production was spotted on location over the weekend as the show’s star, Larry David drove through the heart of Los Angeles.

Premiering in 2000, Curb Your Enthusiasm boasted a mix of scripted and improvised comedy based on the life of David himself who achieved success as one of the creators of NBC’s Seinfeld. Curb garnered immense popularity and 39 Emmy Award nominations during its initial eight-season run.

Season nine will mark the show’s return after a five-year hiatus. Alongside David himself, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, Susie Essman, Ted Danson and Marty Steenburgen are set to reprise their roles from the original series.

A large portion of the show’s eighth season was shot on location in New York City, but as of yet there is no word on if the current production will venture outside of California.

Having shot in California before, Curb won’t be eligible for the state’s 25% tax credit incentive for relocating TV shows but will instead be allocated the 20% rate for all other projects.

The state of California has become an increasingly popular destination for television production. Ballers is expected to shoot portions of its third season in Los Angeles after Florida’s tax incentive was left to sunset. David Lynch’s Twin Peaks also marked its return with scenes filmed in LA before wrapping production in April.

An extra 5% can be claimed on the tax credit incentive if a production films outside of LA or utilises local post-production facilities.
