Doctor Who to film on location in US for first time
The BBC has announced that the new series of Doctor Who will film scenes on location in the US for the first time in November this year. The production is based in Cardiff and has previously filmed in Dubai and Eastern Europe.
Steven Moffat, the production’s Head Writer, said: “The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound to get round to America eventually. And of course every Doctor Who fan will be jumping up and down and saying he’s been in America before. But not for real, not on location - and not with a story like this one.”
Shooting will take place in Utah and will be co-produced by BBC America. Utah currently offers a 20% rebate to qualifying productions spending at least USD1 million, while qualifying projects spending between USD200,000 and USD1 million can access a 15% rebate.
