Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion to film on location in Hong Kong
Steven Soderbergh is scheduled to film extensively in Hong Kong for his upcoming thriller Contagion. The production is due to begin filming in the next few weeks and is likely to span several continents as it follows doctors’ efforts to stop the spread of a virus.
Elliot Au, of the Hong Kong Film Services Office, said: “Hong Kong is an international city with state-of-the-art facilities. There’s a wide pool of efficient and professional crew, as well as a tax rate that’s lower than in many parts of the world.”
The Contagion cast includes Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Winslet and Jude Law. October Pictures is understood to be servicing the production in Hong Kong.
