New Judge Dredd film to shoot at Cape Town Film Studios

Judge Dredd is to shoot at Cape Town Film Studios in South Africa, with the production due to wrap in March 2011. The studios will not be officially completed until October this year, but they will offer facilities including four sound stages, workshops and production offices.

Anant Singh, Chairman of Cape Town Film Studios, said: “Securing Judge Dredd as the first production at Cape Town Film Studios is a major breakthrough for the Studios and sets the tone for the future. Our vision to create an exceptional world-class facility for South African and international films is now an exciting reality.”

Dark Tide is currently filming in South Africa with Halle Berry, while Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster is scheduled to film Machine Gun Preacher in the region with Gerard Butler. The country is also popular as a location for commercial projects.
