Battleship to film with co-star Rihanna in Hawaii
Battleship, a big-budget studio production loosely based on the popular board game, will begin filming in Hawaii at the end of August. Universal is spending around USD200 million on the film, which stars actors Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard, as well as singer Rihanna.
Walea Constantinau, of the Honolulu Film Office, said: “Hawaii has been able to maximise its on-location production potential through its diverse locations and often is used to double for tropical locations around the world, typically idyllic island settings and an interesting mix of ethnic and urban architecture.”
Johnny Depp sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides wrapped its Hawaii shoot a few days ago. In addition, a remake of TV series Hawaii Five-0 has recently been launched as a handy replacement for Lost.
