I Am Number Four prepares for 13-week shoot in Pittsburgh
Sci-fi drama I Am Number Four is to begin up to 13 weeks of shooting in Pittsburgh in mid-May, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The film will tell the story of an alien hiding on Earth in human form following the destruction of his home world by another species, only to find he is still being hunted. It’s based on a book that’s to be published this summer.
Steven Molen, President of Physical Production at DreamWorks Studios, told the paper: “The state is unbelievably supportive of our filmmaking efforts in Pennsylvania, so we looked at a list of candidates early on and set our sights on Pittsburgh with a determination to make it happen.”
Pennsylvania offers a 25% Film Production Tax Credit that projects can be eligible for if 60% of their budget is spent in the state. The scheme applies to television productions, features and commercials that will be broadcast nationally.
Local crew will be hired by the I Am Number Four production and prospective individuals have been invited to submit their CVs through the Pittsburgh Film Office’s website.
