The Thing prequel doubles Toronto for Antarctica
Shooting has started on the prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 horror The Thing, with Toronto doubling for Antarctica.
The prequel focuses on the Norwegian research station seen wrecked at the beginning of Carpenter’s film. It casts Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a Ph.D candidate who travels to the base when a creature is discovered in the ice.
Matthijs van Heijningen Jr is directing, while Joel Edgerton is co-starring as a rough-and-ready helicopter pilot.
